After a long day of work/school the last thing on our minds is exercise.  Most of the time we are too busy worrying about things like making dinner, hanging out with friends, relaxing, ect. What we often forget is how important it is to exercise on a regular basis. Routine exercise can actually help us get more accomplished during the week and improve our lives in many areas. The following is just a few of the many benefits that regular exercise can bring.

Improved health

Improved sleep patterns

Increased energy

More confidence

Improved attitude

Live longer

Stronger muscles

Lose excess weight

More attractive to the opposite sex

Lowers blood pressure

Reduce stress

There are many different ways to exercise. The important thing is discovering what works for you.

Some people like running, lifting weights, or going to the gym. I am definitely not one of those people ha ha ha. I just can’t stay stationary in a gym staring at a white wall or a TV while I exercise.

Some people would rather be outdoors hiking, kayaking, or bike riding. I love doing these things but they do take a lot of time out of my day. I just don’t have an entire day every week to devote to exercise. They can however be a very fun and healthy activity to enjoy with friends.

Many other people prefer to join some kind of exercise club. This one seems to work the best for me. It only lasts a few hours a few days a week. This is great for my busy schedule. The people will often help motivate you to keep coming and hopefully you will enjoy going. Some exercise groups involve yoga, curves, martial arts, basketball, softball, swimming, personal trainers, tennis, soccer, walking with a neighbor or spouse, dancing, and all sorts of other activities.

I definitely agree! The hard part is getting out of the house. I find that the more I get into a routine the easier it is to keep, it’s once I start making those little excuses… that’s what gets me off track!

  2. Thanks for the motivation. I am trying to incorporate more exercise into my life – just seem to busy to go to the gym. I have started using stretch bands and incorporating a few minutes of stretching, several times a day. I just can’t seem to get away from the computer and moves I can do at my desk are also helpful. Wishing you the best.

I would agree that all except running are good exercise. I have been doing massage for over 20 years and have found running to be detrimental, in the long run, to the joints and organs and overall health. Yes, a good deal of my clients are runners, triathalons and extreme marathoners…but I just put them back togethter.

Stretching, breathing, and excercise seem to extend longevity and help the person to enjoy that longevity. With runners…we have to work a good deal to keep things in balance.

Yes, I agree! It’s hard to get back on track after a few weeks of being sedentary though. It’s a slippery slope

I like to play on the Wii Fit. It gets me moving and I work up a sweat! I like to swim too. Movement and just getting out there for a walk is helpful!
